Things.
7. Watch all movies on AFI's top 100 (18/100) - in progress
I got The Graduate from the library this week and watched it, and I actually really enjoyed it. The sexual tension in the movie was so entirely awkward that I giggled my way through it. The ending was unexpected though. All in all, probably deserved to be on the list. The music was good in it too - Simon & Garfunkel.
8. Read 50 books (15/50) - in progress
Finished "The Appeal" this week, which reminded me a lot of Erin Brokovich but was kind of a mediocre read. It kept me turning pages, but I was disappointed in the end. I also read "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night," which I thought was really good. It painted a really detailed picture of someone with autism and how it affects the family.
25. Learn how to cook 52 new recipes and organize them in one place (8/52) - in progress
I made gazpacho and did a mini barbecue this week. The gazpacho was good -- MUCH better after it had been in the fridge for a day. And the barbecue was so much fun. I had two friends over and they worked the grill - honey chicken skewers and corn salad - and it was delicious and the perfect amount of food and beautiful weather. Overall, a success.
30. Use my library card to take out 25 books (7/25) - in progress
Took out the Curious Incident & another Picoult book, Salem Falls.
38. Go to the White Elephant or similar flea market at least twice a summer (1/6) - in progress
The flea market opens to the general public for an admission of $2 at 7 a.m. every Sunday, and it's about half an hour away. Which means it's entirely tempting to stay in bed when my alarm goes off at 6:18 a.m. But I did it this week, and I am glad I did because I love the flea market. I was really into chairs this time, and I secretly wished my apartment were unfurnished so I could decorate it to my heart's desire. But instead I got a bracelet and some corn.
56. Exercise 2-3 times a week (8/143) - in progress
Finally accomplished this for the first week in six I think. I originally said a 90% accomplishment would be really good, but at this point I'm thinking if I exercise more weeks than I don't I'll be proud of myself.
62. Keep a food diary for one week, six times (1/6) - in progress
This week was a good one for a food diary, because my mom was away and I was entirely responsible for my meals. I realized this: I eat a LOT of carbohydrates, especially considering beer counts, and not very much meat. I was thinking I'd be lacking in fruits or vegetables or even dairy, but it's really meat.
90. Use cards that have compiled in my home desk - in progress
Sent three cards this week! This is such an easy one I can't believe I haven't started it before now. I can think of tons of people to send cards to. I need to count the number in my desk so I can know my progress more definitively.

Past few weeks.
8. Read 50 books (13/50) - in progress
So apparently all I do this summer is read. I finished "The Wednesday Sisters" in Cancun, which was about a group of women who had a writing group through the 50s/60s and onward. It made me want to write pretty badly. And then I read another Jodi Picoult, "The Tenth Circle," over 4th of July. It was a quick read, but I think the way it dealt with hell & Dante's Inferno was pretty interesting. I was initially turned off by the comics in between chapters, but they grew on me. Makes me kind of want to read Dante's Inferno now, although sometime tells me it would be a bit less accessible than Picoult's comic interpretation.
30. Use my library card to take out 25 book (5/25) - in progress
Took out Tales of Beedle the Bard, The Tenth Circle & Sophie's Choice... also rented the Pixar shorts, which were cute and fun to watch with Adam.
42. Try 15 new restaurants (11/15) - in progress
I went the Bar and Grille on 7 on Friday night for my birthday. The service was a little slow, which we noticed because we were hungry, but it was nice to hang out with friends. I had a portabello burger - delicious - and tried a new beer, so I count it as a success.
56. Exercise 2-3 times a week (7/143) - in progress
Ok this is still embarassing. Again, I've only exercised once in the past two weeks. It's hard to not be in a routine when I'm home, because when it's not a part of every day, it's a part of no days.
59. Go hiking three times. If I like it, go once a month (1/3) - in progress
I took Adam to Pierrepont about a week & a half ago. He's been there before, but I never knew the trail even existed. It goes around a lake and then up a mountain -- a hill really, I suppose -- and you end up at the same height as all the tree tops. It was fun to go with Adam, and I really love to be outside, so I am pretty sure I will continue this.
